Ross Avenue Parking Garage

Parking Design

Texas Tech Amarillo Project
Project

Project Overview

DeShazo Group was engaged to assess whether the Ross Avenue Parking Garage could support increased traffic volumes following a proposed expansion. With concerns from the First Baptist Church of Dallas about potential congestion—particularly on Sundays—DeShazo conducted a detailed traffic circulation and ramp capacity study to evaluate weekday and weekend usage patterns.

🚗 Parking + Institutional | 📍 Downtown Dallas, Texas
📐 Scope: Ramp capacity evaluation and traffic circulation analysis
🅿️ Garage Size: Existing 1,200-space, 7-level garage
Proposed Expansion: Additional 400 spaces (2–4 levels)

🔍 Traffic Volume & Ramp Analysis

1. Modeled future garage demand with 400 additional spaces
2. Analyzed peak usage conditions on both weekdays and Sunday mornings

🚦 Access System Evaluation

1. Evaluated the garage’s vertical circulation and ingress/egress timing
2. Studied user flow under dual usage conditions: office tenants and church attendees

Strategic Highlights

🚦 Expanding Access Without Creating Congestion

Smart analysis for a growing mixed-use parking facility in the heart of Dallas.

Congestion Impact Mitigation

1. Determined that garage expansion would not create adverse effects
2. Provided assurance that the site could efficiently accommodate increased demand

🏢
Ingress/Egress Efficiency Evaluation

Analyzed vehicle flow at all access points to identify bottlenecks and delays
